About Magic
After a career in teaching, Jody founded her business in the spring of 1979.
Her visual design background has enhanced and influenced her daily work as a floral designer, and also provided inspiration to the design staff at the company. She studied at the Parsons School of Design, taught at the Lake Forest Country Day School and rewrote the children's education program at Ryerson Woods for the Lake County Forest Preserve to change the curriculum from children simply labeling flora and fauna to, instead, provide them with the opportunity for total immersion into the woodland environment.
All of her education contributes to the individuality and creativity she imprints on her work with the ultimate goal to turn someone's fantasy into reality, not as her personal stamp, but as a client-centered collaboration.
She has won 8 times at the Philadelphia Flower show competition, been recognized by various organizations for her commitment to the art of flower arranging, supports numerous causes including serving as a director on the board of Openlands since 2004, and has worked on countless high profile events.
Jody’s space planning and great visual sense defines Designs By Jody as a premier floral and event planning company, and her team is fully equipped to tackle any project and to carry out any wish perceived.
